Prof.(Dr.) Pravin Chandra Trivedi, Ph.D., Post-Doct. (U.S.A.), F.L.S.(London), F.B.S., F.P.S.I., F.B.R.S., F.N.S.I., F.M.A., F.N.R.S.,F.I.A.T, F.E.S. Vice-Chancellor, Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur (Rajasthan), former Vice-Chancellor, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur (U.P.) and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, Faizabad-(UP); former Professor, Department of Botany, University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, has a brilliant academic career standing First in all public examinations. Prof. Trivedi served as Head, Department of Botany and Co-ordinator; P.G. Course in Biotechnology (2003-06); Director, College Development Council (2001-04); and served on various administrative and academic positions in the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. He worked as Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Plant Pathology, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, U.S.A. in 1983-84 on a prestigious Government of India fellowship. Prof. Trivedi has 40 years of teaching and research experience in the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. He has published more than 350 research papers and review articles in Journals of repute. He has edited and written 170 Books (World record in the subject) and Guided 44 Ph.D. students. He has been the Principal Investigator of 21 major research projects funded by national organisations (U.G.C., C.S.I.R., I.C.A.R., D.S.T., D.B.T.). He is an elected fellow of nine reputed academic bodies. Dr. Trivedi visited several major research laboratories and delivered invited talks in many international conferences held in 15 countries. Prof. Trivedi is an elected President of Mendelian Association of India (2014-todate) and served as President of Indian Botanical Society for the year 2013-14, ; President of Indian Science Congress Association (Section-Plant Science), for year 2011-12; President, International Society for Conservation of Natural Resources (2010-12); Vice President, Mendelian Association. He also served as Secretary of the Indian Botanical Society (2005-2010); President, Indian Phytopathological Society (Central Zone) 1997 & 2003; Convener, Jaipur Chapter, Indian Science Congress Association (1999-2007); President, Society for promotion of Plant Science Research (2005-06); and office bearer in many other professional bodies in various capacities. He is a member of the editorial and advisory board of ten reputed journals. For his outstanding contribution in Plant Sciences he was Awarded a large number of awards and honors. To mention a few are: Birbal Sahni Medal-2015 by Indian Botanical Society; Dr.B.P.Pal memorial Gold Medal Awarded by Indian science congress Association, Kolkata, and given by Prime Minister of India at Jammu Science congress, Jammu in 2014; I.P.S Recognition Award-2017 by Indian Phytopathology Society; Scientist of the year Award (2001); M. J. Narsimhan Award (2004); Bioved Fellowship Award (2005); Birbal Sahni Foundation Honor (2007); Bharat Shiksha Ratna Award (2008); Distinction Award for Books in life Science (2009); Shiksha Vibhushan Award (2009),Pragya Environment Award 2018. To honor his contribution, Indian Botanical Society instituted a medal in his name “ Dr. P.C.Trivedi Medal for Editorial excellence” from 2019, which will be given each year for quality book ( authored/ Edited) published by plant scientist.
