Vigna radiata

EFFECT OF DIFFERENT AM FUNGI ON MELOIDOGYNE INCOGNITA (KOFOID AND WHITE) INFECTING VIGNA RADIATA L.

An Experiment was carried out for the management of root - knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita (Kofoid and White) on mungbean (Vigna radiate L. ) with the help of AM fungi. Significant reduction in nematode population and development of mung plant was observed when mung plants were treated with different AM fungi. Four AM fungi were used in the treatment viz. Glomus mosseae, Glomus fasciculatum, Gigaspora gigantea and Gigaspora margarita. These fungi were used in 10gm dose. Remarkable reduction in gall formation and disease severity, increased root, shoot weight were observed in AM treated mung plants. The present investigation indicates that the AM fungi specially Glomus fasciculatum has a great potential against M. incognita.

ECOFRIENDLY MANAGEMENT OF M. INCOGNITA WITH THE COMBINATION OF PAECILOMYCES LILACINUS AND ORGANIC AMENDMENTS

An experiment was carried out for the management of root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita on mungbean (Vigna radiata L.) with the help of integrated management of Paecilomyces lilacinus fungus and organic amendments. Paecilomyces lilacinus along with dried leaf powder of Azadirachta indica Juss. and oil cake of sesame were tested for their nematicidal activity. Results of pot experiments of integrated nematode management (INM) significantly enhanced the plant growth and reduced nematode population. Biomass was increased and disease intensity was reduced by both the combinations but more effectively by Azadirachta leaf powder.

EFFICACY OF ORGANIC AMENDMENTS AND AM FUNGI TO MANAGE ROOT-KNOT DISEASE INCIDENCE IN VIGNA RADIATA

An experiment was carried out for the management of root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita on mungbean (Vigna Radiata L.) with the help of integrated management of AM fungi and dried leaf powder. Glomus fasciculatum and dried leaf powders of Azadirachta indica Juss. and Bougainvillea spectabilis Willd. were tested for their namaticidal activity. Results of pot experiments of integrated nematode management (INM) by leaf powders and AM fungi significantly enhanced the plant growth and reduced nematode population. Biomass was increased and disease intensity was reduced by both the combinations but more effectively by Azadirachta leaf powder and AM fungi.
